All rocketeers and spectators
are welcome. Zia Spacemodelers charges no fee
for either fliers or spectators.
The FAA waiver for high-power flights is to
5,000 ft. above ground level. The field size
supports a maximum of NON-COMPLEX K-motor
flights.
We do not allow any "spark effects" motors on
our launch field.
All rockets must conform to NAR safety codes.
- Ground support equipment
available:
- At
all launches we have 1/8" x 3' rods, 3/16"
x 3' rods, 1/4" x 6' rods, a 3/8" x 6'
rod, and a 12V battery relay launcher.
- We
also have a single high-power pad with a 6
ft. 1010 launch rail or 8 ft. 1/2" launch
rod. If a larger launcher is needed, the
flier will need to supply it.
If
you would like to take a high power
certification test or make a high power
certification flight, contact Tom Beach
ahead of time.
All
High Power fliers must be familiar with 14
CFR Part 101, Subpart C. When a high-power
launch is announced, all rocketeers on the
field must scan the skies and notify the
Launch Control Officer to hold if any
aircraft are spotted approaching.
